What else should you know?

Australia and the Philippines signed a memorandum of understanding on 8 September 2023, with up to 200 places a year for each country and stays of 12 months. The Philippines is already in the 2026 rules with its age and studies, but being on that list does not mean registration is open. It does not appear in the cap tables of AVIE, VisaMundi or Gate Migration.

What we could not confirm

  • We could not check the official Home Affairs page or the Australian Embassy in the Philippines. That the programme has still not started, and the 200 places, are confirmed only by third parties.
  • A 2024 official note planned a start on 1 July 2024. 2026 guides say it has not started. One of them says the Philippines is not on the 462 list, although it does appear in the 2026 rules.
  • It has not been published how places will be shared out. There is no indication of a ballot.
  • English notes, funds and own second- and third-visa rules for the Philippines have not been published. The Migration Regulations require functional English on every first 462.
  • We found no other signed 462 agreement that has not been activated, but we could not check this on the official Home Affairs page.
  • For other 462 countries, AUD 5,000 in funds, functional English and 88 days of specified work for the second visa are cited. There is no indication that this applies in the same way to the Philippines while the programme has not started.
  • The 200 places are not in the cap tables we checked. They are given by McKkr's, Better Life Migration and Visa Go, and by an undated Migration Expert table, which does not match other sources for other countries.
